This notice explains data handling in the Weile extension and download website.
1. Local media processing
The extension contacts media sources directly and parses, downloads, decrypts and remuxes locally. Media URLs, cookies, authorization data, request headers and content are not sent to the developer’s servers.
2. Local storage
Settings are saved locally. Media URLs and plans stay in session storage or memory. Cookies, Authorization and raw headers are not stored long-term. History contains sanitized metadata; temporary media uses IndexedDB or OPFS. Change retention in settings or delete tasks in the Download Center.
3. Extension permissions
Active tab and scripting discover media in the page and authorized iframes. Optional website access enables detection and cross-origin downloads. Downloads and storage save files and tasks. Request rules temporarily supply source context and are removed afterward. Notifications are requested only when enabled.
4. Website and third parties
Cloudflare hosts this website and may process IP addresses, access times and request information for delivery and security. The website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, traffic sources and website interactions, including installation-package downloads. Google may process website URLs, referrers, browser and device information, approximate location and cookie identifiers. Your language preference is saved locally. Website analytics does not receive media URLs, cookies, request headers or download contents from the extension. There are no ads, registration or payments on this website.
5. Use and controls
Only save content you have the right to download. YouTube is excluded. DRM, SAMPLE-AES, pay-protected media and live recording are unsupported. Change detection and history settings, delete tasks, revoke browser permissions or uninstall the extension. Manage downloaded files yourself.
6. Data use and free version
Page URLs and titles, media content, media-request activity and session credentials are processed locally only to detect and download selected media. Credentials are used only with the original media service. Data is not sold or used for advertising, credit decisions or unrelated purposes. The developer cannot access your media or browsing activity. This use follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including Limited Use.
